Prepare the Tank Safely
The tank must be isolated, drained and prepared under approved confined-space and gas-testing controls. Residues and sludge are removed so inspection or maintenance personnel can access the required surfaces safely.
Confirm Capacity Accurately
Tank calibration establishes the relationship between liquid level and contained volume. Reliable calibration tables support inventory management, custody decisions and process planning. Measurements must be taken with suitable instruments and traceable records.
Verify Containment
Leak testing and hydrotesting help demonstrate whether the repaired or maintained tank can safely return to service. Test limits, filling sequence, settlement observations and inspection points are defined before execution.
Plan the Return to Service
Close-out should include inspection findings, calibration data, repair records and test results. A controlled commissioning check confirms that valves, vents, instruments and connected systems are ready for operation.
